Hi Scott,
Thanks for your reference, I am happy to learn that I am a cultural
ambassador (!).
Anyway, I really appreciate your posting on Pimatgol. Actually, the cover
and inside pictures of our Cahiers No. 4 were made out of the ex-Pimatgol
strip where Frederic and I used to take pictures... before he passed
away, almost at the same time as the portion of the alleyway. We used
to go there to a small Korean pub and there was also my favourite sundae
restaurant. Anyway, I don't want to be nostalgic, but what is fun is
that Frederic, before leaving Korea for good, asked me to go to the
construction site wearing a suit in order to look "serious," as if
interested to buy, and try to get all the information in order to write
an article for Les Cahiers. Actually, the last time I had the chance to
go there was with him, I mean carrying his ashes in a bag, since his
wife wanted to follow a kind of local tradition and offer him a last walk in
the places he liked. It was natural that I brought him there, and when
I arrived in front of the building construction site, since I was
wearing a suit for the mourning, they gave me directly the leaflets. I
was not in the mood to start my inquiry, but I found the situation
quite ironic.
I don't know why I tell you all this, it sounds like the beginning of a
Korean short story, maybe just because I am really sad tonight that
things don't last longer, here and there...
Take care and write a lot,
Benjamin
